The book “Into the Timber: Huang Yongyu’s Printmaking Art” is a collection of more than 400 printmaking works that were created in different periods of the 20th century and that were selected by Huang Yongyu himself, as well as articles that were written by Xiao Qian, Zang Kejia, Chen Lvsheng and etc on the review of Huang Yongyu’s printmaking process and summary of evolution of his artistic work. The appendix includes Huang Yongyu's major artistic events and bibliographies. It is not only a comprehensive display of his printmaking achievements, but also will enrich more readers' understanding of the history of modern Chinese printmaking, promote more scholars' research, and make the shining glory of these national cultural and artistic treasures sustainable.

Huang Yongyu, a painter and poet,born in Feng Huang county of Hu Nan province,who achieves mastery through all kinds categories of arts, and attains perfection of them. He is the author of poetry collections including “There Was once a Time”, “The Pied Piper”, “Singing All the Way Home”, the travel book, “Along the Seine to Firenze”(Chinese,Italian,French versions), and the novel “The Lothario in the River of No Worries”and etc. He once made illustrations for “Ashima”,“In the Forest”and etc. He also designed and drew zodiac stamps “Monkey”.He was once awarded the Italian Grand Cross Five-star Knight Medal by the president of Italy. Bei Jing Academy of Painting (formerly known as Beijing Chinese Academy of Painting) is the earliest and largest professional art academy founded in New China.It was officially established on May 14, 1957. Premier Zhou Enlai, Guo Moruo and more than 300 other famous people attended the founding assembly.It is an academic institution to create, make study, cultivate talents, develop Chinese fine arts, and strengthen foreign culture exchanges.
