The fame of Dun Huang has been lasting for generations and generations since it began to be concerned thousands of years ago.” Dun Huang can’t be the exceptional place from which people want very much to know of China, to understand China, especially the history of Chinese traditional artistic culture. However, the history of Dun Huang is far to be understood by the common people. Dun Huang must come out of academic circles and go to the common people because it does belong not only to the academic circles but also to every one of us. And so, it is necessary for us to make it come true. Acquisition groups of Life interviewed the generations of the inhabitants in Dun Huang and Lanzhou in the years from 2010 to 2013 widely and deeply. They collected and edited what they had got in their interview activities for four years. At last, the book was successfully completed, which reveals the meetings in pleasant thought and drama – the meeting between the cave and the people, the meeting between an old Buddhist country and multi-generations. Mogao Cave and its watchmen have been caking and watching each other in the desolate and boundless desert. The watchmen have prolonged the life of Mogao Cave. At the same time they have found self-consciousness, art, culture and even the new road for life in Dun Huang. Dun Huang, Everybody Is Called is a four-colored book with pictures and literary. It contains both precious pictures provided by Dun Huang Academic Research Institute and the photos taken on the spot by the photographers of Life. All of them are beautiful and meaningful, full of people’s tension and art representation.
