At 10:30 p.m. on March 21th, 2022, the winner list of the Hans Christian Andersen Award, known as the "Little Nobel Prize", was announced at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair 2022 in Italy. Suzy Lee, a key author of the Group and a famous picture book writer from South Korea, won the 2022 Hans Christian Andersen Award for Illustration, and her work Summer won a special mention for Bologna Ragazzi Award 2022 for Fictional Works.

Born in Seoul, Korea in 1974, Suzy Lee graduated from Seoul National University with a BFA in Painting, and earned a master’s degree from Camberwell College of Arts, University of the Arts London. It is reported that Suzy Lee was nominated for the Hans Christian Andersen Award for Illustration in 2016, while this award is more than well-deserved. The award speech for the Hans Christian Andersen Award states that Suzy Lee sees picture books as a joyful game, telling the most serious stories in the most exquisite way. She turns herself into a player with the reader, and makes small stories glow with vitality through illustrations. She specializes in using visual images to present thoughts that go into the depths of daily life. She makes good use of dynamic lines and bright colors to tell stories, conveying the emotions of stories and the emotional changes of protagonists to child readers. The appropriate blank space in her works also provides the possibility of dialogue with children.
