The Group held a series of activities of promoting national reading

In the morning, we are awakened by a good-morning message; on the day, we participate in reading clock-in activities with reader friends at home and abroad to obtain reading cards, take part in classic reading to share the youth stories of our home country, and listen to the reading experiences of famous artists; at night we meet book lovers who also love reading in the meeting space; we can also donate money to children in Liangshan area by reading and clock-in... On the World Reading Day this year, the Group, together with Guilin Liyuan Group, more than 150 children's libraries, more than 100 offline reading spaces, more than 50 universities/colleges and China Association of the Universities for the Aged, launched 2022 "Reading One Hour" campaign at home and abroad, attracted nearly 25,000 readers read together in different time and space, creating a diversified reading event for readers and boosting the comprehensive and in-depth reading of all people.

This year is the ninth year that the "National Reading" is written into the government work report. The General Secretary pointed out in his congratulatory letter to the first National Reading Conference that reading is an important way for human beings to acquire knowledge, enlighten wisdom and cultivate morality. He hoped that the whole society would participate in reading and form a strong atmosphere of loving reading, reading good books and being good at reading.

On the morning of April 23rd, the 27th World Reading Day, the Group launched the World Reading Day activities at the Duxiu Bookstore - Guilin Flagship Store jointly with Guilin Liyuan Group Co., Ltd., the Group's Cultural Development Foundation, Guilin Bank, CGM Newspaper, China Reading Weekly, book.ifeng.com, book.sina.com, thepaper.cn and other institutions and platforms, 20 cultural institutions and more than 300 cultural spaces, including China Pictorial Publishing House, Guangdong People's Publishing House, East China Normal University Publishing House, Huazhong University of Science and Technology Press, Sichuan Literature and Art Press and Book Town. Then, in the soft light, 50 readers sealed their mobile phones in envelopes, selected their favorite books in bookstores, and went on a journey of "reading one hour".

According to statistics, the number of offline applicants for "Reading One Hour" exceeded 8,000, and a total of 315 reading spaces participated in reading clock-in this year. The number of page views on the topic of "Reading One Hour" in Weibo exceeded 10 million, setting off a nationwide reading upsurge.

It is understood that "Reading One Hour" is a nationwide reading promotion activity initiated by the Group and supported by dozens of domestic publishing institutions and cultural brands in 2017. Such event advocates the public to return to reading, and promote reading to become a popular lifestyle with the idea of reading one hour every day. In the past five years, "Reading One Hour" activities have been held more than 1,000 times offline, attracting 450,000 readers online and offline.

The theme of "Reading One Hour" this year is "Reading and listening to the echo from the world". The person in charge of the Press said that in the background of the post-epidemic period, reading is a good medicine and a refuge and hoped reading bring readers a new perspective and help readers relieve. In reading, we can see thousands of emotions and wisdom, encounter other people, fund answers to confusion, and get echoes of the world, which are finally reflected to ourselves so that we can better understand ourselves.

It is understood that on World Reading Day, the Group also responded to the call of the Publicity Department of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Party Committee and issued 16,000 "Guangxi National Reading Cards". With these cards, readers could buy books in 13 Duxiu Bookstore chain shops, and truly enjoyed the benefits of comprehensive reading activities.
