On November 18, 1986, Guangxi Normal University Press was founded in Guilin. And in June 2009, Guangxi Normal University Press Group, the first local university press group in China and the first publishing group in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, was established.
Stage I: From 1986 to 1998, the press started from scratch and gradually grew from a small press to an influential professional publishing organization in the field of educational publishing.
Stage II: From 1999 to 2008, the press grew from a single educational publisher to a well-known publishing agency across regions and fields.
Stage III: From 2009 to 2016, the press became strong, from a press with a single business to a diversified and comprehensive publishing group, turning into an innovative representative enterprise in the Chinese publishing industry.
Stage IV: From 2017 till now, GXNU Press Group has transformed itself from a specialized press to an excellent press, developing from a rudimentary multinational publishing institution to a world-famous cultural corporation. The current goal of GXNU Press Group is to transform and upgrade, exploring new formats and modes featuring "publishing + culture + technology", building a new development pattern featuring mutual promotion of domestic circulation and international circulation, becoming a pathfinder for the forward-looking development of the publishing industry, and creating new possibilities for its sustainable development.
International Development
Since the start of the 21st century, GXNU press group has started its cross-regional and international development, promoting globalization of capital, books, copyright, and services creativity.
Through two overseas acquisitions and multi-country deployment, more than 30 companies and institutions in nearly 10 countries including China, Singapore, Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States have been established, thus creating a relatively mature and complete international publishing and distribution industry chain; the press has maintained long-term copyright cooperation with partners from 30 countries and regions across the world, and exported more than a thousand kinds of copyright; for eight consecutive years, it has entered the top 20 list of Chinese book collection influence overseas, and nearly 3,000 kinds of books have been permanently collected by overseas library systems and representative publishers.
On this basis, in 2017, GXNU press group launched the " The Arts Bridge" project dedicated to the international communication of art and design. The platform is cofounded with its overseas companies, Britain-based ACC Art Book Publishing Group, and Australia-based Images Publishing Group. “Arts Bridge Annual Series" founded the international academic journal Architecture China, which presents to the world the multiple visions and design philosophies of contemporary Chinese architectural practice. At present, "Arts Bridge" has represented more than 150 well-known publishing houses around the world in the copyright business of art and design books, as well as the copyright business of more than 100 books on Chinese art and design, gradually becoming a representative brand of Chinese culture and art going global.
In addition, GXNU Press Group, as the leading enterprise of cultural industry in Guangxi Province, has been actively carrying out various types of cultural exchange projects with ASEAN countries. In 2022, Duxiu Bookstores in the University of Hanoi was officially opened to the public, which is an important achievement of international cooperation between University of Hanoi , Guangxi Normal University and GXNU Press Group.
